Family on Wild Walk

Autumn is a fantastic time of year to visit the centre. Get your coats on and get outdoors in the fresh air to witness the spectacle of the autumn migration. In a feast for your senses, hear the familiar sound of thousands of pink-footed geese honking overhead as up to 30,000 geese will spend October at the centre using the mere as a safe haven to spend the night. Imagine seeing thousands of geese whiffling over the mere as they fall to the water with a scenic sunset background. The centre hosts late evenings every Wednesday and Saturday in October to come and witness the spectacle for yourself.

Get up close and personal with our feathery friends as they nibble grain straight from your hand. Grain can be purchased as you arrive from the Admissions. Our friendly nene geese, flamboyant greater flamingos, flock of ross’s geese and colourful mandarins being the favourites to feed.
